Just to let you know yesterday's pipe of the day was the Parker Bruyere. This can be a tough one to get going if you pack the 'backy' in to much. You might have guessed, when I did get it going the rain set in. Anyway more later...

Just to let you know I am starting a new gallery (no not Tony Hart style) on another hobby of mine - photography.

I currently own a Kodak P850 with a load of extra lens and filters include ones by Kood and Cokin

I will add to the gallery evey so often on places we have been...enjoy

Ok the 2007 Pipe of the Day season has now offically started!!

Yesterday's pipe was the Parker Knight and today's was the Parker Bruyere both are new players and can been seen in the Pipes photo gallery. I am also the prode owner of a silver rimmed sheeroot holder which I will be trying at some point.

Today's Pipe of the Day (for yesterdaay...sorry for thr delay) was a Gold Fire. I've got a feeling that this may be an American made pipe - but I dont know for sure. This one has a straight stem and has a rustic effect. This is quite a nice pipe to use, although the material used for the mouthpiece is a bit spungy, and this can make it hard to hold in the mouth sometimes.

BTW you can now click on the Pipe of the Day's picture for each entry to bring up a clearer picture of that pipe. Also if anyone has and more information on the pipe on display here, or would like to ask any questions in regards to the Pipe of the Day or pipe smoking in general then please leave a comment.

Today's Pipe of the Day was a Savinelli, but looks also like a Comoy's Everyman 4000. This pipe also resembles yesterday's Pipe of the Day - the Hardcastle Royal Winsor, again with the square shape stem, but this one doesn't have the rustic bowl.

Is back to a real old favourite for Today's Pipe. It was a Hardcastle Royal Windsor .This pipe I really like its rustic bowl and squared steam are part of what make it a real pleasure to smoke

Today's Pipe was a double gold banded Carey Magic Inch. I think this is one of the smartest looking pipes. It also has a nice size bowl and is vented.

DJ GK - The story

For those who dont know...Im also known as DJ GK..and here's a press release taken from my DJ GK 1988-2003 album, this is then followed by an update for what Ive been up to in the last couple of years....

I started mixing back in 1988, more as a bit of fun...much as it is today.
Back in those days my main technique was called "bouncing", that is were
you bounce "the sound" from one tape deck to another, also quickness on the
pause button helped. There was many a time that the sequence of pause,
rewind, pause, play was repeated time after time to try an match to sounds
up as closely as possible. This was hardly rocket science compared to the
method I use today where the sounds are all mixed from mostly mp3 file on
computer. The advantage of this is that effects, multi-tracking and editing
can all be done by the one computer program once the source sounds have been
recorded. Much of my early work was done with friends I pick up along the
way, the main one being The Mix Kid, providing interesting sources of both
sounds and ideas as well as some of the equipment the early stuff was
produced with. So it was DJ GK & The Mix Kid worked on many project together,
we were also know as The Parana Brothers (Doug & Dinsdale) for a while, even
though it was never decided who was which one. A lot of the work that appears
from this era has been digitally remastered from the orginal tapes used.
By 1994 and for the next four years I was doing a few odds and ends but nothing
much, I had moved once and then in 1998 came a new outlet. After yet another
move this year I started a different kind of project, Id had keyboards and the
like for a few years and in 1997 I took delivery of a Roland XP-50, so it was
time to put them to use. So in 1998 Sounds From The South was devised.
The original idea was to be more of a band, we me playing guitar/keyboards and
another friend playing drums, then after a time would would look for a singer.
This never really took off, and all that was recorded was 11 solo tracks by myself.
There were also a few mixes which I produced. By the end of the year I had moved once
more and was in the process of moving again. 1999 brought with it another
change in direction. Although I had played with computer recorded files
before, it wasnt until now that it was with mp3 files. The program that I had
was only very basic, effects and features being limited, and also mp3 only
had a sampling rate of 96kbps / 22050hz. Happy Y2K...this year I didn't do
anything...well not mixing wise anyway. In 2001 it was back to business with
24 mixes. Later in the year I swaped the computer program to the one I use
today, as described earlier this one has many more features, multi-tracking,
better sampling qualities and more effects. In fact there are quite a few
features im still experimenting with. 2002 saw more mixes both old and new,
more and more using the effects of Cool Edit 2.0, in 2003 this program was
built-out by Adboe and re-labelled as Audition 1.0. A few new minor effects
were added. In this year, the last one covered in this 15 year compliation,
I started to do more and more megamixes including ones of David Bowie, the
late Robert Palmer, Peter Schilling and Showaddywaddy. This is going to be
one of the major areas of development for my future.

...Since starting way back when I have compiled over 20 albums, 13 of which have been recorded in the last 2 years, also I am recording a mixture of original material and covers under the name Deja Vue...some of which is available on here!!!! The first Deja Vue album will be called Old Songs, New Days. I have also started using new equipment and software for my on recording (see seperate blog entry). All DJ GK / Deja Vue material is now produced by Long Hall Productions (LHP).

So what next...well I still on the hunt of thngs to mix...yes I do requests!!!...I may also bring out a compilation of all the Mini and MegaMixs I have done..ok over to you!!!
